New Year | ROSRC Member Newsletter

Posted on February 8, 2024February 8, 2024 by Michael
Happy New Year! As we dive into another exciting year at River Oak Swim & Racquet Club, we are thrilled to bring you the first newsletter of 2024. The past year was filled with memorable moments, and we are eager to make a splash in the coming months with a host of events and activities for our members.

In a world buzzing with information, our newsletter remains your compass to the latest updates, events, and exciting happenings. We encourage you to stay connected, participate, and make the most of your membership. The success of our club is driven by the enthusiasm and involvement of our wonderful members.

Membership Fee Reminder

As a friendly reminder, during the April 2023 general membership meeting, the amendment to the by-law concerning the timing of the work day assessment/credit was voted on and approved. Accordingly, the $50 work day assessment will now be paid by all members with the 1st installment of the annual dues each year. Members have the opportunity to receive a $50 credit upon completion of an approved work day activity.

In addition, it was communicated during the October general membership meeting that annual dues will be increasing from $550 to $600 in 2024 to address rising costs. With these changes, your first payment of $350 (comprising half of the annual dues, $300, plus the $50 work day assessment) is due by March 1st. This payment can be made via check or through our club’s PayPal account on the website. Please note that PayPal may assess a small fee.

*We are tentatively planning to have our first workday on April 20th (with a back-up day of April 27th). More details to come.

The remaining balance of $300 for the annual dues will be due prior to June 1, 2024. Also, for members with outstanding balances from 2023, settling those fees is necessary before key card activation.

Thank you for your attention to these matters, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.   Discover the ease of accessing our ROSRC PAYPAL account with the QR code provided below. Alternatively, you can explore more information about payment options by visiting our website under the membership tab. Feel free to scan and navigate or check our website for details. Pool Management Updates

Our long-time pool management company, Positively Pools, decided to discontinue their service to us in late 2023.  This sudden termination was unexpected as we had one year remaining on our contract, and had been in communications with them regarding expectations for a proposal for the 2025 season. Numerous attempts were made to contact PP for an explanation or opportunity to address their decision, but they were unwilling to discuss or provide a justifiable reason for cancellation.
Fortunately, thanks to the hard work of Dan Higgins, new Pool Chair, and Sonny Spratlin (who began the task of soliciting bids for the 2025 season early) the board had a number of proposals from new companies to consider filling the void left by PP.  A number of factors were considered, including cost, detail of proposal, as well as familiarity with our facilities and ultimately, Sweetwater Pool Management was selected for the upcoming 2024 season.  We are excited to partner with Sweetwater and ask that you be on the lookout for more details related to this transition in future newsletters.

Membership

As we are now firmly into 2024, it’s time to make plans for the summer. I am hoping for a warm, sunny spring.

I am looking forward to green trees and activities at our club.  If you know of any friends or neighbors who may be interested in joining our community, please let me know. We pay a referral fee of $100 to members for each household that joins. Or, you can authorize me to credit that fee to the new member to reduce their initial costs.

I can be reached at [email protected].
