As we approach the end of June, temperatures are soaring! For those who have already paid their dues in full, we sincerely thank you and hope you’re enjoying the facilities to beat the heat.
However, if you still have an outstanding balance, please note that full payment was due by June 1st. We have extended grace periods where possible, but we must inform you that key cards for members with unpaid balances will be deactivated on or before July 1st.

Alternatively, you can drop a check into our secure mailbox at the club. If you choose this method, please notify Carol directly upon deposit, as she checks the mailbox periodically. Please be aware that payments may not be processed the same day they are dropped off.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding your account, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Membership Wristbands Several members have inquired about the new wristband identification program. Here are the main reasons behind this decision:
-We have faced significant issues with unauthorized individuals entering the pool by jumping the fence or coming through the gate alongside members. Daily incidents of non-members accessing our facilities, sometimes in groups as large as 10 people, prompted the introduction of the wristband system. This system enables our guards and members to easily identify authorized users. Additionally, if any neighbors hear activities at the pool after hours, please contact the police and notify a board member immediately.
-Despite guest fees being unchanged at $2 since 1979, the honor system for guest reporting has proven ineffective. Since implementing mandatory pre-sale of guest bands, our guest revenue has tripled compared to last year, benefiting repairs and potentially the bathroom renovation fund. Please remember that each family is limited to a maximum of 5 guests per day to ensure ample space and seating. Larger gatherings should reserve the pavilion by emailing [email protected].
-As we all adjust to this new system, it is now mandatory for all members and guests to wear their bands visibly while inside the pool gate—either on your wrist, ankle, or bathing suit. Bands left on bags or coolers will not be accepted. Individuals without bands will be required to put them on or leave the pool area.
-There have been instances where members have given their green member bands to non-members. This practice is strictly prohibited, and any member found facilitating unauthorized access will face termination of their membership.
-Guest bands can be pre-purchased from board members: $4 each, $3.50 each for a pack of 10 ($35), and $3 each for a pack of 20 ($60). Unused bands can be exchanged for 2025 bands if in good standing at the end of the year. Bands are also available for purchase from guards during adult swim hours.
-Tennis: Member and guest bands are required for casual play, including individual coaching sessions. However, bands are not required for official matches and team practices, aligning with swim team competitions. Bands can be purchased from Kristen Falk, Tennis Chair.
Pool Updates
As you may be aware, the 2024 pool season has been marked by significant repairs and upgrades to our facility. Currently, we have replaced one of our filters (among multiple), refurbished the bulkhead of another, and have continued with essential repairs to the baby pool.
Following our Memorial Day Party, concerns were raised about the deteriorating surface of the low diving board. In collaboration with Sweetwater Pool Management, it was decided to close the diving board immediately to prevent any potential injuries. Although we initially explored the option of resurfacing the board, Sweetwater has since sourced a replacement board at a very competitive price. The Board convened and approved the purchase of the new diving board this past Sunday evening. We anticipate a lead time of approximately 3 weeks for its delivery, with the goal of having it installed in time for our July 4th celebration.
We are happy to share that the baby pool has successfully undergone extensive repairs, totaling $2,000, and is now open for enjoyment!
Help needed: Our lounge chairs are in urgent need of repairs to their straps. Volunteers are needed to assist in re-strapping the chairs on Wednesday, June 26th, starting at 5 PM, or whenever you can join. Consider volunteering for your workday reimbursement or simply to help improve seating comfort for all our members.
Notice on pool closer: Our pool was closed on Friday, June 7th, due to necessary algae treatment. While the pool remained chemically safe for swimming, the algae initially started as a small spot but grew rapidly due to consecutive rainy days and warm weather. This is a common occurrence for pools in our area, but it served as a reminder of how quickly algae can proliferate under such conditions.
During this period, Board members were actively managing calls, emails, and texts from concerned members. Ultimately, a decision was made to treat the algae on Friday evening, coinciding with the Adult Night Event, with the hope of restoring clarity for the weekend. Although the pool was cloudy on Saturday for a short period, it returned to its usual beautifully clear state by Sunday.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and have implemented new processes to enhance communication between board members and Sweetwater Pool Management, aiming to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Swim Instructors
Members have asked about our policy on swimming lessons and instruction. Swim lessons are not permitted on Saturdays or Sundays. Below are the detailed rules:
-Swim instruction conducted BY a member FOR another member (or family member) is allowed.
-Swim instruction conducted BY a non-member FOR a member (or family member) is permitted under certain conditions:
-The member must grant access to the instructor. -The parent or member must be present and observing. -The instructor must wear a guest band.
-Running a commercial swim instruction business at our facility for monetary gain is strictly prohibited. Swim instruction BY a member FOR a non-member is allowed only if:
-The member submits a request to the President and Pool Chair, including dates, times, and names of those receiving instruction. -The member provides a certificate of general liability insurance (club insurance does not cover this). -If approved, both the person receiving instruction and any observers must wear guest bands, paid for or provided by the member.
Buildings & Grounds
Updates and announcements:
-With summer in full swing, the club has encountered teenagers scaling the fence to access the pool area after hours, which constitutes as trespassing. Anyone found inside the gated areas after hours may face arrest. Remember, this is our pool, and if you witness any unauthorized activity, please take action. Report incidents by calling the GPD non-emergency line. -The club sprayed for bugs this week on the property. We still encourage members to bring a can of bug spray as a precaution to prevent mosquito bites. -The very old refrigerator and ice maker have been removed. A huge thank you to Josh and Brandy Howell for donating a new refrigerator to the club. -The playground has been demolished.
Thank you to Chris Cole and John Blake for volunteering and working so hard on this project. Please contact Sherri Fowler at [email protected] if you’d like to address the outstanding items.

Process reminders:
As we work to align our processes in partnership with our new pool company, we are implementing a wristband identification system. This is common practice for large pool facilities like ours and will enable both our members and lifeguards to easily identify who is authorized to be in the pool area. This helps us improve security and reduce liability and will also reduce the need for paid gate monitors. Overview of the program:
Members 6 years of age and older will be issued a numbered silicone wristband to be worn on the member’s person and easily seen at all times within the fenced pool area (5 and under do not require wristbands)
Members can pick up their bands at the pavilion during specified times staring May 1st
Enforcement of bands will begin the first day of lifeguards on May 22nd and remain in effect throughout the end of the pool season
Guests will be provided a one-time use band that is valid for one day. Sets of guest bands can be purchased in advance from designated board members or purchased the day of the guest visit from lifeguards during “adult swim” time.
Pavilion party non-member guests will also be provided a one-time use band for those events

On this special day, we extend our gratitude not just to mothers, but to all caregivers, nurturers, and mentors who selflessly give of themselves every day. We also acknowledge that Mother’s Day can be a complex time for some, recognizing those who may find today bittersweet or challenging.
To all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and mother figures—thank you for your endless devotion and the countless ways you’ve shaped our lives. Happy Mother’s Day!

As a friendly reminder, during the April 2023 general membership meeting, the amendment to the by-law concerning the timing of the workday assessment/credit was voted on and approved. Accordingly, the $50 workday assessment will now be paid by all members with the 1st installment of the annual dues each year. Members have the opportunity to receive a $50 credit upon completion of an approved workday activity. Important: The fulfillment of the $50 is due on your first installment, no exceptions. Towards the end of 2024, we will be handling the workday credits for those who request a refund.
In addition, it was communicated during the October general membership meeting that annual dues will be increasing from $550 to $600 in 2024 to address rising costs. With these changes, your first payment of $350 (comprising half of the annual dues, $300, plus the $50 workday assessment) is due by March 1st. This payment can be made via check or through our club’s PayPal account on the website. Please note that PayPal may assess a small fee. Thank you to everyone who has already submitted payment.
If any members have a playground set in good condition and no longer in use, please consider donating to the club.
Updates and announcements:
Pre-Opening Workday – the following work has been done to get the club ready to open.
On 4/13/24: the roof was blown off and the gutters were cleaned.
On 4/20/24: the brush was cleared near the Pavilion and behind the pool. The perimeter around the pool was sprayed with weedkiller. The front steps and sidewalk in front of the building was pressured washed along with the pool deck by the high dive. Plants were planted at the front of the property in front of the trees and on the island as you enter the parking lot. Also, the drainage at the back left side of the pool was cleared in an effort to allow water to run off and not back up on the property.
On 4/26/24: the main Pavilion area was pressure washed as was the picnic tables and rails.
On 4/29/24: the pool deck from in front of the restrooms and to the right side of the kid pool was pressure washed.
Thank you to the following members who have volunteered to help get the club ready for the summer: Tom MacKenzie, Brian Meyer, Matthew Curtis, Don Summers, Alan Burton, Zack Bower, Roxanne Blake, John Blake, Ann Porter, Josh Howell, Brandy Howell, Mike Gant, Steve Harmon, Chana Coughlin and Kim Hooper.
Work still outstanding: The remainder of the work needed at the club such as pressure washing the remainder of the pool deck, the sidewalks around the tennis courts and demo of the playset will be done if additional volunteers are willing to complete these tasks.
Front entry flooding – the county has cleaned out the pipe that runs under the entrance driveway. DOT also pulled a ditch on both sides of the driveway, added rip rap round the pipe, hydro seeded the ditch & surrounding area and put up no parking signs in front of the club. The no parking is to avoid damage to vehicles and to each ditch.
Please contact Sherri Fowler at [email protected] if you’d like to address the outstanding items.
