ROSRC | Member Newsletter

June 2023 | Member NewsletterHappy June ROSRC Members.

Memorial Day was a success, and we thank everyone who volunteered to help, contributed to food donations, and everyone who came out to make the event enjoyable for all. We have a special community, and the memories we create last a lifetime.

Weekend Gate Workers Needed:
Madison or Ava will work the sign-in table Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 11am – 5pm.

They will be checking you in, along with your guests. Please remember that it’s a policy that a guest can only come a maximum of three times in a season. Guest fees are $2/person.

Parking:
We understand and are aware that our parking lot has minimal parking spots, especially during swim meets, holidays, or busy weekends. However, please do not park in unpathed spaces in the parking lot where there is pine straw, and please do not park in the grass lining the sidewalk or street. There is a draining issue that the county is actively working on; they’ve planted grass to help with the flooding. Please ensure that this area is not parked on so that the issue can be resolved.

Primrose Day Care and the Dental Office have graciously offered their parking lots to us on the weekends and during home meets.

Buildings & Grounds Replacement:
Sadly, we announce that David Hauert, our Buildings & Grounds Director, and his beautiful family are moving next month. While we wish them all the best, we will miss them deeply. We thank him for all his time and contribution to our pool.

We are looking for a replacement for David. If you are interested, please reach out to [email protected].

David, thank you again for your time and commitment to our club.

Family Sponsorships of Bathroom Renovation Project
If you attended last month’s general membership meeting on April 16th or read recent newsletters, you know that we are working hard on some large-scale projects for the club. One of these, the bathroom renovation, is a project that I have heard many members discuss throughout the last few years. Great news– we are very close to making this
happen!

The estimates we have received are between $35,000 – $40,000. We need an additional source of funding to make this project a reality. Our goal is for this project to get underway this fall, if financially possible.

In addition to several fundraising activities planned for the summer, we are asking for any families willing to step forward to sponsor this project. We are requesting the following:

-$150 Sponsorship – With this gift, your family name would be added to the fundraising banner, and you will receive a newly designed River Oak Swim & Racquet Club t-shirt as a thank you gift.
-$200 Business Sponsorship – With this gift, your company logo can be added to the fundraising banner and our upcoming newsletters.

If you are interested in making one of these gifts, or a donation in any amount, please contact Carol Hawkins, Treasurer, at [email protected] to arrange payment as these funds.

All donations made will be collected in a separate Building Renovations account. Thank you to everyone who has helped us get started on this project!

Family Sponsorships of Bathroom Renovation Project

Posted on May 25, 2023May 25, 2023 by Michael

If you attended last month’s general membership meeting on April 16th, or if you have read recent newsletters, then you are aware that we are working hard on some large-scale projects for the club.  One of these, the bathroom renovation, is a project that I have heard many members discuss over the course of the last few years.  Great news– we are very close to making this happen!

David Hauert, our Building & Grounds chairperson, has invested a great deal of time and energy meeting with contractors and plumbers to arrive at a detailed scope of work for the project.  In addition, he has obtained estimated pricing for the changes.  His proposed scope of work includes:

  • Re-slope and resurface the bathroom floors so that any water carried in would flow properly to a drain.
  • Install a trench style drain in each restroom and an additional drain in each.
  • Replace the hot water heater
  • Replace toilets in the ladies’ room.  Remove and reset other plumbing fixtures.
  • Replace the partitions in the ladies’ room – we are working on a configuration
  • Install new doors.

The estimates we have received are between $35,000 – $40,000.  We need an additional source of funding in order to make this project a reality. Our goal is for this project to get underway this fall, if financially possible. We believe the project is necessary and important to our members so we are appealing to you for help.

In addition to a number of fundraising activities planned for the summer, we are asking for any families that are willing to step forward to sponsor this project.  We are requesting the following:

  • $150 Sponsorship – With this gift, your family name would be added to the fundraising banner and you will receive a newly designed River Oak Swim & Racquet Club t-shirt as a thank you gift.
  • $200 Business Sponsorship – With this gift, your company logo can be added to the fundraising banner and our upcoming newsletters.

If you are interested in making one of these gifts, or a donation in any amount, please contact Carol Hawkins, Treasurer, at [email protected] to arrange payment as these funds. All donations made will be collected in a separate Building Renovations account.

  • T-shirt pre-order sale – we will also be pre-ordering shirts during the Memorial Day party. If you are interested in pre-ordering a shirt, please plan to bring cash or check. Shirts are $25 each.

April 2023 | Member Newsletter

Posted on April 24, 2023April 24, 2023 by Michael
ROSRC Members, we hope this newsletter finds you well. We are just a few weeks away from the pool opening for the 2023 pool season. Can you believe it? I always enjoy watching those brave enough to get in the water in May. Your 2023 Board of Directors looks forward to making many memories with you, your families, and your loved ones this summer.

Please help me start this month by giving a warm welcome to the newest 2023 Board Member, Colleen Puckett. Colleen will be stepping into the role of Social Chair. We are appreciative of your time and look forward to social events planned for this season.

This is a longer newsletter, so please make sure you read it to its entirety. It’s important to stay up to date and involved as a member.

General Membership Meeting:
Thank you to the 18 families that joined our general membership meeting on April 16th. Your input and suggestions are important to us, and we appreciate your dedication to the success of our club.

For those that missed out, one of the significant items discussed was the bathroom renovations and the costs to complete the project. Given the scope of the work and the cost of the project, ROSRC will be hosting several fundraising events to help offset the cost. Please look for the following ways to help out this summer –

1. Club t-shirt sales: The design will be posted in the glass case Memorial Day weekend, and pre-orders will begin on May 29th.
2. Chuck-a-Duck and other raffles during summer parties: Please bring cash to participate and cross your fingers for good luck!
3. Family & Business sponsorships: A separate email will be sent to all members with more information about how you can help fund the building/renovation fund.
4. Social Nights at the Pool: A portion of the cost of the adult swim nights will be donated to the building fund. We are planning some family friend fundraiser nights too.

Please keep an eye out for those ways you can help; as always, we are looking for volunteers for both the junior activities and fundraising committees. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please get in touch with Brand Howell at [email protected].

Spring Workdays:
As we look forward to opening the pool soon, we need your help getting the pool and grounds ready for the season. We will be holding two opportunities for workday credits. We need all the help we can get!

Please email David Hauert, [email protected], if you are planning to attend a spring workday. We will have a few projects to offer to members to complete before we open the pool. Areas of focus will be grounds, pool deck, and the pavilion. Further details will be sent to those who reply with interest in participating.
  Workday 1:
Saturday, April 29th
9am – 2pm

Workday 2:
Saturday, May 15th
9am – 2pm

ROSRC Membership:
We are about to enter “membership season,” when parents realize that school will end soon and kids need something to do.

If you have a friend or neighbor thinking of joining River Oak, you can get a $100 referral credit per referral. Please make sure they mention your name when they inquire.

In addition to the new members listed in a prior newsletter, we have added the Erik & Murphy Lindbloom family. Please make them feel welcome.

Also, if you have misplaced a key card, Ann Porter our membership director, will help reissuing a new card. Replacement key cards are $10 each, cash or check. Key cards can only be activated at the club.

You can email Ann Porter at [email protected] or leave a voicemail at 404 590-7755 for further assistance.

ROSRC Dues Reminder:
Your first half of the 2023 season dues were to be paid no later than March 30th. If you have not paid these dues, we will assess the $25 monthly penalty and keys will be suspended.

The total for the year is $550.

The second half dues will be due June 1st, 2023.

How to pay:
Checks should be made payable to River Oak Swim and Racquet Club and mailed to:
